TuneToy listens for the fundamental pitch of a played string, then guides you toward the selected string rather than simply showing the closest chromatic note. That matters when a string is very flat: a conventional chromatic reading can make the wrong note look almost correct. Select a tuning, pluck one string at a time, and bring the needle to the green center zone.
The tuner runs entirely in your browser. Microphone input is used only to calculate pitch on your device; it is never sent to TuneToy or stored. For the clearest reading, use a quiet room, pluck a single string, and keep the device microphone close to the guitar.
Use standard tuning for most six-string guitars, or open a dedicated tuner for a common alternate setup. Heavier strings can improve tension and stability for lower tunings such as Drop C or whole-step-down.
Start with the lowest-pitched string and work upward. Tune up to pitch rather than loosening down to it, which helps the string settle at tension. If a string is far from its target, tap its note below the meter to lock it while you bring it back. When every string has a checkmark, play a chord and make small final adjustments by ear.
